Christmas is over. The holiday season is over. I made a sale or two but things are much slower than I expected still.

I was particularly excited about having my artwork up for the SCPA Alumni Day. More specifically: The last SCPA Alumni Day at 1310 Sycamore. It's kinda funny, when I went back there I still had that fear of the steps crumbling below me or me falling down them…. down ALL of them, from the fifth floor to the first.

I was able to get a few other alumni who were still doing art to put up their work along with me: Dennis Betz, Angel McIlwain, & Lisa Niessen, all contributed. I put up the work two days before so the kids could have a chance to see our stuff. I was particularly pleased with the ones that stopped, enjoyed them, and asked questions. I got to talk to one current student: Emily, I think she's a sophomore now. She's not a visual artist, but she's in creative writing & tech theatre. Neither of those ever "take the stage" so when alumni day comes along they just get skipped over in favor of having everyone watch the stage for the dancers, singers, & band. I explained to her the ulterior motive for hanging my artwork which was to begin making it standard practice for the non-performing arts to take as prominent a place during school events as those on stage. I was particularly encouraged by talking to someone who my efforts, if they came to be, would actually benefit from it. I had other things I'd like this to do for the students and alumni as well. I hope this establishes an avenue to invite future non-performing alumni to stay in communication & push to be seen & push for the current students to be seen more. I also hope the alumni will be asked to come & talk with the students about their post-SCPA life in pursuit of their careers as well as provide opportunities for them.

It was interesting to see MTV doing there thing. I got to talk to Jim, who's a part of that MTV team, while I was setting up in the days before. I asked him if they were doing something similar with the tech theatre students as I was trying to do (explain to them what life is like etc.) & he said they had. I was happy.

I did a few art items this month. Most of it was Bengals related. Sorry folks, they're kinda on my mind because of their success & tragedies. I'm currently working on finding some places to display my artwork more publicly but I'm waiting on some callbacks & such.
